Seriously, the Ringmaster is a tool that allows you to make deep bowls from 3/4" thick lumber, and with minimal waste. It does all this by guiding a set of HSS cutters into a spinning disc of wood, as shown at right. The manufacture of the Ringmaster made this tool with it's own motor, but wisely observed that their tool could be adapted to work on standard lathes, including a version for the Mark V.

A couple observations I learned along the way included:
- Just because the Ringmaster can make a tall bowl from a single board, there's no rule against using more than one board per project.
- The board being cut can be mounted on a faceplate or chuck instead of drilling a through hole for the supplied arbor.
- As with everything is woodworking, a sharp tool is a must, and the wrong speed on the Mark V can cause premature dulling and can even cause the HSS cutters to loose their temper.
- Segments can be glued-up to make fascinating designs; as proven below.
- There is a right way and a wrong way to feed the cutters. One will capture your cut ring, while the other will destroy your rings.
